A Quiet Force for Good: Honoring Tom Oyler, Host of the 2025 Clean Water Collective

When people talk about Florida’s east coast, they often mention the fishing, the food, or the water. But just beneath the surface of all those stories, you’ll often find the steady influence of one man: Thomas L. “Tom” Oyler — entrepreneur, community advocate, and coastal steward.

As the owner of The Old Fish House Bar & Grill in Grant-Valkaria, Tom has built more than just a popular waterfront destination. He’s built a launching pad for good. Whether it’s a last-minute fundraiser, a benefit dinner, or a quiet donation when someone needs help, Tom shows up. And he does it without seeking recognition — only impact.

Over the years, Tom has helped organize and support offshore fishing tournaments that blend sport with purpose, raising money for causes like pediatric healthcare, youth development, and family-focused nonprofits. His generosity has fueled scholarships, medical support, and local initiatives that ripple far beyond the docks of his restaurant.

In 2025, Tom stepped up once again — this time for the Indian River Lagoon. By opening his waterfront property to host the 4th Annual Project SeaSafe Clean Water Collective, Tom helped bring together scientists, conservationists, artists, anglers, and neighbors to tackle one of Florida’s biggest challenges: water quality. Through his support, this year’s event will deploy four million clams, plant thousands of mangroves, and restore critical habitat — all from the shoreline he calls home.

But Tom’s commitment to community and conservation goes even deeper. In the aftermath of Hurricane Dorian, when Grand Cay in the Bahamas was devastated, Tom didn’t wait for instructions. He partnered with churches, businesses, and volunteers to coordinate a full-scale relief mission, organizing supply runs that made it to some of the hardest-hit areas. His leadership turned compassion into action — fast.

At Project SeaSafe, we believe that real change doesn’t come from loud voices. It comes from consistent action, from people who show up again and again, no matter the spotlight. Tom Oyler is one of those people.

We’re honored to host the Star brite’s Project SeaSafe Clean Water Collective on Tom’s property — and even more honored to call him a partner in this mission. His story is a reminder that strong communities are built by those who keep showing up — for the people, for the water, and for each other.
