Bringing Conservation to the Community
The 2024 Bobby Lane Cup at Guy Harvey Camp Mack on Lake Kissimmee was more than just a bass fishing tournament—it was a celebration of community, conservation, and teamwork. While the tournament showcased the incredible fishing talent of young anglers and raised over $70,000 in scholarships for kids (shoutout to Bobby Lane for championing such an amazing cause!), the event also became a platform to highlight important coastal and freshwater projects.
Enter Project SeaSafe, part of the OneWater brand family, who brought their coastal expertise and commitment to clean waters right into the heart of freshwater country. Even though Lake Kissimmee was a far cry from the coastal waters where the team normally works, Project SeaSafe and the Star brite crew were excited to connect with anglers and share their mission of keeping all waters—saltwater or freshwater—clean and healthy.
Conservation and Clean-Up Meet Freshwater Fun
While Captain Alex Gorichky and Cory Redwine of Project SeaSafe were on-site promoting Star brite’s coastal restoration initiatives—like the Indian River Lagoon (IRL) Clam Restoration and the exciting New Swell Mangrove Restoration—they made sure to bring tools to make a difference at the event, too. The Star brite Mesh Trash Bags were a big hit, helping to keep the lake and the venue spotless.
These reusable mesh bags were handed out to tournament anglers and served as both a cleanup tool and a chance to win some serious prizes. By using their Star brite trash bags, posting their cleanup efforts, and responsibly dumping trash at weigh-in, anglers were automatically entered to win epic gear prizes from YakGear, T-H Marine, Star brite, PartsVu, and more.
This simple initiative wasn’t just about cleanup—it was about creating a culture of care on the water. Whether you’re fishing the salty flats or bass fishing inland lakes, clean waters benefit everyone.
Teamwork Makes the Difference
The Bobby Lane Cup continues to set the gold standard for what fishing tournaments can achieve, thanks to partnerships like these. From the OneWater Brand family to conservation efforts led by Project SeaSafe and Star brite, this event showed that when anglers, conservationists, and brands work together, we can make a real impact.
Bobby Lane and his team gave young anglers an incredible opportunity while raising much-needed funds for scholarships, but they also created space for bigger conversations about stewardship, conservation, and protecting the waters we all love. Whether it’s a bass lake or a coastal bay, the message is the same: have fun on the water, leave it cleaner than you found it, and always take care of the spaces where we play.
Big thanks to everyone who came out to fish, clean up, and support an event that truly gives back. Until next time, let’s keep those waters clean, those fish biting, and the fun rolling.
